There are just so many gorgeous backdrops for photo sessions here in Florida but when my sister-in-law suggested Princess Place Preserve in Palm Coast, Florida for a maternity session I agreed in a heartbeat. Not only was I super excited to document this special moment in time for a family so close to my heart, the setting was ideal with several different backdrops to take advantage of. We used natural light and some external flash set-ups as well to get those picture perfect images fit for a magazine cover. A big thanks to my wife for being such a great secondary photog and assistant – lugging around that big old flash I decided to use is no joke.

We decided to shoot for an hour or so before the “golden hour” and it’s a good thing we did. Just as the light was getting spectacular in a field of tall grass, a park employee came to tell us the park was closing and it was time to leave. Good thing we already had our shots.

For this session, Mom wore a flowy pink maternity gown in honor of the baby girl the family was expecting, hubby wore blue, and my nephew had a light pink shirt with blue jeans to balance out his parents. 😆 Solids are always a good clothing choice when you are headed into nature for a photo shoot. They make you stand out against all of nature’s beautiful patterns.
