PERSONAL USE LICENSE
So, what is a personal use license?
The official license terms state it is for personal prints, cards and gifts. Non-commercial use only, not for resale. This means you can use it in your home, or for a one-off card or gift e.g. a personalized greetings card, print, mug or canvas.
COMMERCIAL USE LICENSE
So, what is a commercial use license?
Even if you are a ‘one man band’ and have a small business set up, you still need to buy the right license.
For websites or blogs, you need a website license. And any sort of advertising, including leaflets, posters, billboards – you’ll need a marketing license for those too.
EDITORIAL USE LICENSE
So, what is an editorial use license?
Like commercial photography, the use of an editorial photo often requires a licensing agreement, as the photos are either owned by a publication or specific photographer. Often, these contracts only allow editorial photos to be licensed for a set period of time.
These photographs can include logos and recognizable people since the image is intended for educational use.
Editorial content can be placed in: News articles, essays, magazines or newspapers, documentaries, textbooks, and/or travel pieces.
*Some photos on my website are free and can be used for most commercial or personal projects, and for editorial use. You need to only provide credit to the photographer, thanks.
